About the company

The company started operating on 1 May 1978. Its original business was vehicle interiors and seat manufacturing, mainly for passenger vans and 4x4s.

Its fender-flare work began in 1983, when the market had no flares for the “old” Bronco on larger tyres. The request came from a Bronco owner who had already fitted bigger tyres than any available flares could cover. Existing flares were lengthened and widened, moulds were taken from them and the flares were offered to others, as interest in 4x4 modifications was already strong and growing.

It grew from there, and today there are moulds for a wide range of models, with more being added.

In 2002 the company became a private limited company (ehf.) under the name “Gunnar Ingvi – Bílasmiðja ehf.”

The company is located at Vagnhöfði 16, 110 Reykjavík.
